If you were looking for a certain place to eat and I told you that it is about 5 miles down the road, would you be willing to start walking toward that place just based on the fact that I told you that? Or would you need a little more proof that the place you are trying to get to is really that way? Would how well you knew me play a big role in that trust? The difference between having faith...and living in faith is the part where you just believe....or you just start walking "in faith". Anyone can say they believe that the place is really 5 miles down the road, say thanks and walk away. But what does it say about the person that just takes off walking in that direction. It says they really trust you. So much so that they are going to start the journey before they can even see the end result.
A lot of people say they trust God. A lot even say they trust God with their life....but do you trust Him enough to say I'm going to start living my life as if the things I feel you have promised me are already in my life? I'm going to start walking to the place you want to get me to....even if I can't see it. One of my favorite faith scriptures is James 2:19 where it says "even the demons believe". Believing is not enough. Believing is important....but it can't stop there. God wants us to trust Him enough that we say "I'm giving my future to you...and I'm walking into it KNOWING that you've got me". He doesn't want us to take one step, then look around and think, I don't know if this is going to take me where I should be. Yes, He wants us to be wise about our choices that will affect our future, but if we are walking in His will for our life, those things should naturally fall into place. God does not want us to be nervous, paranoid or insecure about our future. That is not living out our faith...that is living in fear. Only the enemy wants that for you.
Whether you have thought about it like this or not, it is true. The first time you put your faith to the test was the moment you accepted Jesus as your savior. You told him in that moment that even though you can't see Him, you know He is there and you trust that what Jesus did will cover your sins and make a way for you to spend eternity with Him. That is the biggest leap of faith we can make with God....but for some weird reason, even after that huge leap, we often struggle with fully trusting Him with other areas of our life or our future. If that has been you, then let today be the day that you shift from saying "I have faith"....to "I'm going to start walking in faith". Let today be the start of you releasing all control to God and let him guide your every foot step. Take every decision you have to make to Him and trust every answer you get back from Him. Nobody wants to see you have a more beautiful, meaningful and purpose driven future than He does!
God, Thank You that You are trustworthy! Thank You that we can lay our past, our present and our future at your feet and KNOW that you have them all covered. Help us release to You what we have been holding onto out of fear, and help us stop listening to the enemy's lies about our future. As we trust in you, help our lives speak to those around us as we give testimony of what you have done for us. In Jesus name, Amen.
